Jane Kurtz travels throughout the United States and the world to speak to students and teachers about reading and writing ... and about her work with Ethiopia Reads. Jane's speaking focus on specific suggestions and examples for writers of all ages to create writing that is lively and effective (often using the language of the Six Traits that is familiar to many students and teachers), the power of books. She would love to connect with readers in any of the fifty states or anywhere overseas. She has spoken many times in countries on the African continent and in Europe. She speaks of her inspiration for her books, the power of books, and the efforts to bring literacy to all children and adults, especially to her childhood home—Ethiopia. Jane travels from Portland, Oregon and is now in fairly easy reach of Washington State and Oregon. In 2017, one of Jane's author appearances was in Kazan, Tartarstan, Russia at the International School of Kazan. it was a most interesting trip.
Jane often is available for book signings when she is in an area; and is always willing to sign books while she is appearing in a school/library or during special events. The Kansan wrote about just such a signing at a bookstore in Newton, Kansas. Read about the signing here.
